interview and mock report

Interview with Frank Sinatra

I was in the Copa Cabana, listening to Frank Sinatra’s performance back stage. His manager was a very good friend of mine and so he let me in for an exclusive interview with the famous singer/song writer/actor. Finally, as Frank finished his last song, i asked him for an interview. He gracefully accepted.

Maxxime: So, first of all, why do they call you “the Chairman of the Board”?

Frank: I guess it’s because I’m the one who founded the Reprise Records in 1961. Since then many artists call me”the Chairman of the Board”

Maxxime: Which song was your favorite song you made in your career?

Frank: Moon River. It was the song I made for the movie “Breakfast at tiffany’s” with Audrey Hepburn.

Maxxime: Who did you prefer working with in your shows?

Frank: I loved working with Dean Martin.

Maxxime: Who was your idol when you were a child?

Frank: Bing Crosby.

Maxxime: how old were you when you first married?

Frank: i was twenty two years old.

Maxxime: What is your favorite movie?

Frank: Casa Blanca

Maxxime: Did you always want to be a singer when you were a child?

Frank: No, i wanted to be a plumber.

Maxxime: Do you have any brothers or sisters?

Frank: No i am an only child.

Maxxime: Was music always present in your childhood?

Frank: yes, it was always present.

Maxxime: Did you like this interview?

My critique

My Critique:

One of the great jazz artist of the century was Frank Sinatra, also known as Ol’ blue eyes. He has made a great number of albums, many of them earning recognition and praise, like: “A Jolly Christmas From Frank Sinatra”,” Seduction”, “Nothing But The Best”,”This Is Sinatra” and many more albums... In his entire career, he made at least 20 albums. His two best albums, according to me, are: A Jolly Christmas and also Seduction. Though there are many differences between those two albums, there are also similarities. The original theme, the sounds and the song titles are the key to an album.

Music always needs a base, an inspiration. Without a theme, the music would be pointless, vague and boring. It would have no purpose. In the album “A Jolly Christmas From Frank Sinatra”, the theme is mostly based on Christmas and in the holiday spirit. It put people in a generous and jolly spirit for the festivities, adding a jazzy-blues to the holidays. In “ Seduction” however, the theme is love and passion, seduction and romance. It is the perfect album to set the mood on a romantic date or on Valentine’s day. The smooth and sultry sound of Sinatra’s voice can never go wrong on those kind of songs.

The sound of the album, when bought, is made to satisfy the buyer and to make sure the sound is sets people in the appropriate mood for an event or even a family dinner. The energetic, cheerful sound of Sinatra’s Christmas album is of simple taste but it cannot make you feel something else than excitement and childish glee, giving you a nice mood for the family suppers and gift exchange. In the album ”Seduction”, the sound is very soft and lustful, very romantic. The perfect example would be the song “i’ve got you under my skin”. It is not for a family supper where there are family members around chatting around happily. No, it is for one of those special evenings, with that special someone. The mix of the slow, relaxing music with the lovely atmosphere of candle light dinner makes a great combination for date nights. With the help of the song titles you can find the perfect song for the perfect date.

The song titles are very important because it gives you an idea of what the song is about, In the Christmas album of Frank, all the song titles have, one way or another, a link with Christmas, and happiness, sometimes even love, like : “Jingles bells” and “The Christmas song”. In Ol’ Blue Eyes’ romantic album” Seduction”, the song titles are imprinted with romantic flare and lovely stories that come across as soon as you read the title like “It Had To Be You” or ”Prisoner Of Love”.

Those two albums are obviously my favorites because on one side there is that happy, energetic holiday spirit that lifts you up from your gloom, and on the other side there is the lovely, smoldering, romantic stories depicted in Sinatra’s songs that makes you want to fall in love simply to know what he is talking about. Both albums are wonderful in my opinion, but since i am a hopeless romantic, i must say that my favorite album is “Seduction”

Frank sinatra mini biography

Frank Sinatra
One of the greatest artists of all time was of course Frank Sinatra. Creator of many classics like “I did it my way” and “Moon River”, Frank was and will always be an icon in the history of swing and jazz.
Francis Albert Sinatra was born December 12, 1915 in Hoboken, New Jersey and died May 14th 1998. His mother, Natalie Della, and his father, Antonio Martino Sinatra, were immigrants from Italy. He attended Demarest High School but never graduated. Frank had many relationships and married four times. He was wed to his childhood sweetheart Nancy Barbato, actresses Ava Gardner and Mia Farrow, and his last wife was Barbara Marx. He had two children, Frank Jr. and Nancy Sinatra.
Sinatra got his first break in 1935 when he joined a local singing group, The Three Flashes. With Sinatra, the group became known as the Hoboken Four and got Edward Bowes’ attention who was a personality of the 1930s and 40s whose Major Bowes’ amateur hour was the most popular talent show in radio. After appearing on the show, the Hoboken Four attracted 40,000 votes and won the first prize which was a six month contract to perform on stage and radio across the United States.
Frank Sinatra made many albums including: Frank Sinatra Christmas collection, Live at the Meadow Lands, Live from the Goldenugget, Nothing but the Best, Seduction, Sinatra: New York and The very best of Frank Sinatra. All these albums include classics like: My funny valentine, I did it my way, Moon River, Fly me to the Moon, etc. This information is very important because it shows that when opportunity meets preparation, people can do great and unexpected things.
The death of Frank Sinatra left the world with one less great idol who was an inspiration for jazz and swing to evolve as we now know it.
